Michigan Ice Waves

LAKE HURON --

I must point this out based on the amount of e-mails I and several other of my colleagues that I speak with across the Midwest have received from Marquette to Chicago received regarding enormous frozen waves that are supposedly near Mackinac Island in Lake Huron. The e-mails usually have the title "Fw: An ice wave from the floor of lake huron near Mackinaw Island./Michigan"

The pictures look really amazing. There are still several questions since no one knows who "originally" took the pictures or that they have been edited or "photoshopped" to look more impressive. As Jeff in the comments section wrote below, they may not even be "waves" at all, but rather a glacier in the polar regions. However, they are 100% certainly not taken anywhere near Michigan. Even in places around the Great Lakes where the ice can crash into each other and pile up to 40 ft., this is not the case here. Odds are that they are from somewhere around Antarctica.
