GAYLORD/PETOSKEY, MI -- The snow will be with us for a little bit.

But if you live in Northern Michigan, you’re used to the routine now, and several people 7&4's Andrew Keller spoke with love it.

The snow fell in Gaylord, but the story is the wind.  The only way to be outside right now is to be nice and warm.  Let's go check out some local communities.

"School...OUT!" laughs Jakob Dunham.

It's wishful thinking for Dunham.  He was out in Gaylord, taking advantage of parking lot snow pushed into a corner, working on "Fort Gaylord."

"You usually have to build it up, but sometimes, I go to the top, and dig down like a little hole so I can sit in it and no wind comes to me," he said.

Snow and wind were making driving conditions less than ideal in the Alpine Village.

Down the road outside of Elmira, plenty of snow has dropped from the sky so far, and that means sleds are revving.

"It’s awesome, yeah, great, great, been snowing here for a while, so loving it," said Lynn and Shad Bruce.

The Bruce’s are from Ellsworth and were racking up miles on their snowmobiles.  They had to fill their tanks at a popular snowmobile pit stop.  Up the road in Emmet County, the snow was glistening.

In Petoskey, there's plenty of snow, Sunday business, it's a little slow, but some business owners think this could be a blessing in disguise.

Not too many people at Arlington Jewelers, but this traditional Northern Michigan snowstorm could be money.

"I think it will help overall with the White Christmas experience, people will come in from downstate," said Chris Strubel of Arlington Jewelers.

"This is why I come here," laughed downstate resident Diane

Fedack is up visiting her daughter, and says let it snow.

Across the street, the Septic family was out and about, loving every little bit of it.

"I love it.  I love getting winter, especially when we get a good system like this, just big, fluffy, snowflakes coming down," said Jason Septic.

Back in Gaylord, the fort work continues.  Chad Williams says oh yes, winter is here!

"Here it is, first part of winter, snow gear is all out, gloves, hats, and here we are," said Williams.

The snow and wind are expected to continue across Northern Michigan, so make sure if you go outside, bundle up.  People I talked to say, bring it on!
