NORTHERN MICHIGAN -- For the second straight day, freezing rain/icy roads closed dozens of schools across Northern Michigan.

A warm front will lift in during the day Tuesday allowing for the ice to melt leading to a spring-like afternoon with record high temperatures forecasted.

Locations along/north of highway M-72 will mainly see mid/upper-40's Tuesday with low/mid-50's along/south of that highway. We should normally be in the mid/upper-20's this time of year.

Along with the mild weather will come rounds of rain and even a few thunderstorms Tuesday evening into the overnight. Localized flooding could occur due to the poor drainage from snow/ice. Areas of fog will also develop as that warm air passes over our snowpack.

The biggest changes will sweep in Wednesday as rain will quickly switch over to all snow by mid-afternoon Wednesday as colder temperatures surge into the region. The roads Wednesday will become increasingly messy/sloppy with rough travel conditions as temperatures drop.

Much of Northern Michigan falls into the teens Wednesday night with teens for highs Thursday and lake effect snow.
