The first of 56 wind turbines is being put into place at the Lake Winds Energy Park

MASON CO., MICH -- The first of 56 wind turbines is being put into place at a new wind farm south of Ludington in Mason County.

The Lake Winds Energy Park is in Riverton and Summit townships. 

Consumers Energy started putting the first tower into place Friday.  Each tower is 350 feet tall and topped off with three large blades.  After the blades are in place the turbines are 476 feet tall .

The 232-million-dollar commercial windfarm is scheduled to be complete by the end of this year.
