The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado with winds topping 100mph, touched down in Crawford County Monday night.

SOUTH BRANCH TWP., MICH -- The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado with winds topping 100mph, touched down in Crawford County Monday night.

The EF-1 touched down around 9:28pm near the Forest Dunes Golf Club which is in South Branch Township. The NWS reports the path length was 1.3 miles with a width of 350 yards. The initial touchdown was at the entrance of the golf club.  The path of damage ended just southeast of the eastern edge of the golf course.

More than one-hundred uprooted and snapped trees were found in the path of the storm.  The National Weather Service says the tree damage was in State Forest land, just south of the fairway.
