While the calendar says April 20th, the weather in spots feels more like winter!

After a night of heavy rain across much of Northern Michigan, temperatures have cooled just enough Friday morning to switch rain back over to snow across the Eastern U.P. and a good portion of Northern Lower Michigan along/north of highway M-32.

While snow amounts will generally remain less than 4" for any one spot, it could come down at a good clip through mid-Friday afternoon for places such as Alanson, Sault Ste. Marie, Cheboygan/Rogers City, Onaway, and Gaylord/Hillman among others. This change in temperature has also led to the Mackinac Bridge closing due to falling ice as of 8:45 Friday morning.

This entire system is being driven by low pressure that will quickly race east Friday afternoon taking with it the rain/snow. In fact, by late evening, any remnant snow showers will end with sunshine taking hold of the area for the weekend.
