STONE COUNTY, MO -- A hearing to determine if two runaways will be tried as adults in the killing of a Lake County couple at their vacation home in Missouri is set for April 17th.

Currently, the teen suspects, identified by prosecutors as Anthony Zarro, 16 of Texas and Christopher Allen, 15 of Tennessee, face juvenile charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action and burglary.

The teens are accused of killing 70-year-old Paul Brooks and his wife, 69-year-old Margaret Brooks, of Baldwin. Their bodies were found at a home south of Table Rock Lake, where they were seasonal residents.

A preliminary autopsy was conducted in Columbia, Missouri. Results showed the couple was killed by stabbing, but blunt trauma was also a factor in their death.

A neighbor saw two suspicious young men near the home and held them at gunpoint until authorities arrived. The teens had recently run away from Lives Under Construction Ranch, a nearby private facility for at-risk youth.

Paul and Margaret Brooks were originally from Windsor, Ontario, but had moved to get away from the violence of the city. They had been living in Baldwin for the past seven years.

7&4 News was told that the Brooks' were cremated and a memorial service will be held this July in Baldwin.
