NORTHERN MICHIGAN -- It was a frigid start to our Tuesday as a combination of clear skies overnight, light winds, and a healthy snowpack allowed temperatures to bottom out at -18F at Grayling in Crawford County.

The increase of clouds as our next weather system arrives will warm things back into the low-20's Tuesday. There are two weather systems that cross through this week with each one bringing a little bit of snow. They originate in Northern Canada and come off the dry prairies with little moisture to interact with, so no "major" snow is expected.

The first one Tuesday crosses quickly and I am only forecasted 1-2" of snowfall which will be just enough to make the roads slick. The second weather system rolls in late Wednesday night through midday Thursday with 2-4" of snow expected at that time. By the time we get to Thursday night, total snowfall from Tuesday through Thursday evening will be in the 4-6" range.

Temperatures will slowly warm into the low/mid-30's by the weekend.
