GRAND TRAVERSE -- Michigan is marking it's 176th birthday on Saturday, which also marks the bicentennial of the War of 1812.

On January 26th, 1837, President Andrew Jackson sign the bill admitting Michigan as the nation's 26th state.

Governor Snyder officially declared Saturday Michigan Statehood Day and encouraged folks all across the state to celebrate.

Right Brain Brewery in Traverse City is celebrating by hosting a birthday party to benefit Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.

From 1-3pm the brewery collected gently used hats and mittens to donate to Goodwill, while also giving out door prizes.

7 Monks Taproom and High Five Threads teamed up to also celebrate the mitten's big day.

7 Monks threw a 12-hour long birthday bash, featuring 26 different Michigan drafts all for a dollar off.

"We're all from Michigan here," said co-owner, Jim Smolak.  "I'm born and raised in Michigan. It's a great place to be. Especially northern Michigan. It's such a beautiful area, and we have so many good beers to offer so it's an easy way to celebrate a great state."

High Five Threads was also on site with Michigan apparel.
