Man hit by car, killed while cutting up fallen tree

A 52-year-old Olivet man is dead after a car hit him while he was cutting up a fallen tree.

The incident happened very early this morning on North County Line Road, just slightly west of Moore Road in Springdale Township.

A 63-year-old Ludington man was driving east on North County Line Road when he hit the man standing in the road. According to the Manistee County Sheriff's Office, the man was standing on the road cutting up a fallen tree.

He was declared dead at the scene.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The incident is still under investigation.
