Divers search for missing boater in West Bay

TRAVERSE CITY -- Update Sunday September 2nd:  Authorities in Leelanau County have located the body of a missing fisherman in West Grand Traverse Bay.

Leelanau County Sheriff's Office says after a three day search, the body of 59 year old Gary Ciaglaski of Bingham Township was located at around 3:40pm Sunday afternoon.

Dive teams found him in about 30 feet of water in West Grand Traverse Bay, north of Lakeview Hills Road.

Ciaglaski was missing since Friday morning. Witnesses say they saw his boat spinning in circles and then he was gone.

There will be an autopsy done by the Leelanau County Medical Examiner. Foul play is not suspected.

Divers are searching for a man who went missing while boating in the West arm of Grand Traverse Bay.

According to the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, between 11 and 12 this morning, the man was fishing when people nearby say they saw the boat spinning in circles and the boater was gone.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Grand Traverse County Sheriff's dive team and Leland Fire and Rescue are searching for the man near Power Island by air.
