LUDINGTON (AP) -- Consumers Energy says construction will start next week on a wind farm project in Mason County.

The Lake Wind Energy Park will be  located in Riverton and Summit Townships. The utility sent out letters to community members announcing that construction for the 56 wind turbines will begin next Monday.

The first phase of the 232-million-dollar project will be excavation for access roads and turbine foundations. The Mason County Road Commission still must approve a road plan.  A vote from the Road Commission is expected Tuesday.
