TRAVERSE CITY -- The third annual "Cow Fest" will take place this Sunday, June 10th.

The Colantha Walker Dairy Festival celebrates the life of Northern Michigan's most famous cow. Of the 96 Holstein-Friesian cows that comprised the former Traverse City State Hospital's herd, Colantha was the most famous. In 1926, she produced nearly 23,000 pounds of milk in a single year, making her the highest milk producer in the world.

Upon her death in 1932, a banquet was held in her honor. A tombstone was also placed at her gravesite near the south end of the Commons property.

Celebrate the famous Colantha Walker at this moo-ving festival. Milk this weekend for all it's worth, and take part in all of the fun activities. Here are a list of the events:

Pancake Breakfast: 10-Noon

Farmers Market: 10am-3 pm

A Fitness Fair on the Historic Front Lawn

Live Moo-sic and Performances

Parade to Colantha's Headstone: Noon-1pm

Wagon Rides: 1-6pm

Wine and Cheese Pairings, Wine and Chocolate or Cookie Pairings

The Great Grilled Cheese Grill-off: 3-4pm
