Concerned citizens spoke out at the Traverse City Commission meeting Monday night regarding the issue of homelessness in the city.
Citizens have complained about a group of homeless people who are causing problems by pan-handling and acting rowdy in the city. Several suggestions have been made to curb the problem, including building a wethouse or establishing a homeless court.
Mayor Michael Estes is taking the issue seriously and is concerned about the impact it's having on the safety of citizens. He has asked a committee to work with area leaders and develop a plan. The commission will revisit the issue in four to six weeks.
