ALLEN PARK, Mich.  - Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford says it is nice to be healthy this offseason.

Stafford joined his teammates Monday for their first voluntary workout of the year. A year ago, he was recovering from surgery on his right shoulder and hanging around in Georgia waiting for the NFL's labor problems to end.

Stafford's throwing arm got healthy, the lockout was lifted and he went on to throw for 5,000-plus yards to lead Detroit to its first playoff appearance since the 1999 season.

He says the Lions are trying to build off the momentum created last season with most of the same coaches and players while striving to avoid off-the-field problems that might hold them back from taking another step.
