New pro-am golf tournament planned in Michigan

      BELLAIRE, Mich. - A new golf tournament for professionals
and talented amateurs will take place this fall in northern
Michigan.
      The 54-hole Michigan Pro-Am event will be held Sept. 7-11 on
three courses at Shanty Creek Resorts in Bellaire. The Golf
Connection, an international promotion group, is organizing the
tournament.
      Up to 30 teams can compete. Each will consist of one PGA pro and
three amateurs.
      Golf Connection President Tom Jaronski says his goal is to
market the resort to affluent golf enthusiasts in the U.S. and
Canada. The company runs other golf tournaments in the Caribbean.
