Foster grandparents are hoping to inspire a generation.

Senior citizens all across northern Michigan are doing what they can to make sure local kids get whatever help they need through the Foster Grandparent program.
The program is offered nationwide and started in northern Michigan back in 1994. Senior citizens are paired up with local kids from 10 counties across the region by Catholic Human Services. Foster granparents can help kids of all ages, and the hope is that the grandparents will serve as a positive role model for kids during their most formative years.
Jean Kelty has been volunteering with the program for more than 10 years and said there was no better feeling in the world than the one you get when you care for kids.
The program could always use more volunteers. To volunteer you have to be 55 years of age or older. If you're interested you can call 800-658-8554.
