(AP) -- From the outside, it looks like a premier game on the opening week of Big Ten play: The conference's two highest ranked teams, with a combined 7-1 record.

A closer look, though, and both No. 14 Ohio State (4-0) and 20th-ranked Michigan State (3-1) enter Saturday night's game at Spartan Stadium with almost as many questions as answers.

The Buckeyes are unbeaten but coach Urban Meyer is unhappy with almost every facet of their game.

His counterpart with the Spartans, Mark Dantonio, acknowledges his team's problems with consistency and effort, especially on offense.

Both say their teams need to get a lot better by Saturday, in time for what will be a watershed game for each squad's hopes of winning a Big Ten division title.
