A first since '79: MSU baseball in NCAA tourney

      EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State baseball team is in the NCAA tournament for the first time in 33 years.

      The Spartans said Monday they will play Pepperdine on Friday in the four-team Palo Alto Regional. Michigan State got an at-large bid to the tournament after a 37-21 season.

      Michigan State played in the College World Series in 1954 and also played in the NCAA Tournament in 1971 and 1978.
