NEW YORK - After a long flight, a predawn arrival and a
workout that came all too soon, Derek Jeter is ready for the
playoffs to start.
Almost. First, a good night's sleep would be nice. A bleary-eyed
Jeter says he didn't get home until 4:30 a.m. Thursday after the
Yankees were swept at Tampa Bay.
On Friday night, the Yankees face Justin Verlander and the
Detroit Tigers in an AL division series opener. CC Sabathia goes
for New York in a postseason pitching matchup that's about as good
as it gets.
This is how it all started for the these teams - Verlander vs.
Sabathia on opening day.
Says Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira: "The season has kind
of gone full circle."
