ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan coach Brady Hoke tried to get
out of this week's game against San Diego State.
The former Aztecs coach says he told athletic director Dave
Brandon to buy out San Diego State, but realized it was too hard
for the teams to find new opponents.
The 22nd-ranked Wolverines will host the Aztecs on Saturday in a
matchup of 3-0 teams. Hoke led San Diego State for two years before
he was hired by Michigan in January to replace Rich Rodriguez.
Clearly, Hoke would rather not face his old team so soon. He
says he informed San Diego State players of his departure with a
text message because they weren't on campus at semester break.
He says he hasn't talked to them since bolting for his dream
job.
