EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio is
back with the Spartans after briefly leaving the team to be with
his family as his father underwent a medical procedure.
Dantonio traveled to Zanesville, Ohio, on Tuesday and was gone
about a day. The school said he was back for Wednesday's practice
and for a team picture Thursday morning.
The 17th-ranked Spartans are transitioning from preseason camp
to their first game week. After Thursday's practice, players aren't
due back until Sunday night. Michigan State opens the season Sept.
2 against Youngstown State.
The Spartans announced Thursday that quarterback Kirk Cousins,
offensive lineman Joel Foreman and defensive back Trenton Robinson
have been named captains.
