DETROIT- Tigers pitcher Phil Coke has left a game against
the Tampa Bay Rays with an injury.
Coke hobbled off the field in the fourth inning Monday night
after appearing to hurt his right ankle while attempting to field a
bunt. Zobrist laid down a perfect bunt on the left side of the
infield. Coke got off the mound, slipped on the grass and seemed to
injure his ankle.
Coke retired the first nine batters he faced before giving up a
leadoff walk in the fourth.
He was replaced by Charlie Furbush in his major league debut.
The highly touted left-hander was called up Saturday from Triple-A
Toledo.
Furbush started off by walking Sean Rodriguez to load the bases,
then got out of the one-out jam by striking out Felipe Lopez and
Kelly Shoppach.
