DETROIT - NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says he speaks
frequently to the owners of the Detroit Lions to draw on their
experience as the league remains in a lockout.
Goodell told Detroit season-ticket holders on a call Thursday
that the Fords are asked for their help even though they're not on
the NFL labor committee.
William Clay Ford has owned the Lions since 1964, seven years
after their last NFL title. His son, Bill Ford Jr., is also vice
chairman and executive chairman of Ford Motor Co.
The locked-out Lions had a fourth straight day of workouts
Thursday at Detroit Country Day School. They expect to return June
6 to for another player-organized minicamp.
