DETROIT - Pavel Datsyuk scored with 42 seconds left in
overtime, and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 on
Friday night after tying it on a lucky deflection in the final
minute of regulation.
Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk held the Red Wings at bay until
Nicklas Lidstrom's shot from the point deflected off Edmonton's
Andrew Cogliano high in the slot and slid into the net with 24.8
seconds left.
In overtime, Datsyuk took a pass from Johan Franzen, dragged the
puck around a sliding Oiler and beat Dubnyk with a wrist shot.
Ryan Jones scored in the first period for Edmonton.
