(AP) -- Michigan State hockey coach Rick Comley is retiring after this season. Comley, in his ninth season as the Spartans' coach, is one of two coaches to win NCAA titles at two schools. His Michigan State team won the national championship in 2007.

Comley came to the Spartans after spending 26 years as Northern Michigan's coach, winning an NCAA title there in 1991. Comley also coached at Lake Superior State. His overall record at the three schools is 778-608-110. This is his 38th season.

Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis says a national search for Comley's replacement will begin immediately.
