ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The expectations are much lower for this season's Michigan basketball team.

Last season, the Wolverines were coming off an NCAA tournament appearance and were ranked No. 15 in the preseason poll. After all that hype, Michigan flopped, winning only 15 games.

Now, the Wolverines will have quite a challenge on their hands. They might enjoy being under the radar, but unless this team is more talented than it appears, it will be hard for Michigan to come close to an NCAA tournament bid.

In the offseason, Michigan lost guard Manny Harris, who left early for the NBA draft. Zack Novak is the team's top returning scorer, and he averaged only 7.4 points per game last season.
