DETROIT (AP) --
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms
with cornerback Amari Spievey, their third-round pick from Iowa.
The team confirmed the agreement Wednesday without disclosing
terms.
Amari, the 66th selection overall, was an All-Big Ten player who
will get a chance to play immediately on a team that lacks
cornerbacks.
Spievey was a star running back in Middleton, Conn., who was
switched to defense as a freshman at Iowa. He ended up spending a
season at Iowa Central Community College before going back to play
for the Hawkeyes.
