Kendall helps Royals beat Tigers 7-3

KANSAS CITY (AP) --       KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Jason Kendall had three hits and three
RBIs to help Bruce Chen and the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit
Tigers 7-3 on Friday night.
      Scott Podsednik went 2 for 3 and scored three times for the
Royals, who finished with 13 hits. David DeJesus drove in two runs.
      Chen (2-0) gave up two runs and four hits in five-plus innings
to earn his first win as a starter since Aug. 6. Chen, subbing for
injured right-hander Gil Meche, made his second start after 10
relief appearances.
