Angels beat Indians on throwing error in 9th

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Cleveland pitcher Erik Stiller overthrew first base to allow Mike Trout to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Angels a 7-6 win over the Indians on Thursday.

Efren Navarro's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth gave the Angels a 6-5 lead, but John Drennan hit Trevor Reckling's first pitch over the wall in right field in the top of the ninth.

Angels starter Matt Palmer allowed four earned runs in 3 1-3 innings.

Shin-Soo Choo homered off Palmer in the first inning, and Cleveland starter Aaron Laffey allowed five hits and three runs in three innings.
