EAST LANSING, MI (AP) --
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Former Michigan State defensive
tackle Oren Wilson has been sentenced to 21 days in jail on
misdemeanor assault and battery charges in connection with a Nov.
22 on-campus fight with fraternity members.
The 22-year-old also was ordered Wednesday to perform community
service as part of his sentence. He's the last of 11 current or
former Michigan State football players who pleaded guilty in the
case to be sentenced.
Wilson was sentenced in East Lansing District Court.
Defense lawyer Andrew Abood said he didn't think jail time was
appropriate in the case and the punishment was more stringent than
what other Michigan State students have faced in similar cases
involving assault.
Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio has said Wilson is
transferring.
