RICHMOND, British Columbia (AP) - From the hulking members of
U.S. men's bobsledding team to tiny figure skater Amanda Evora,
there's nothing like a free shopping spree to get into the Olympic
mood.
In another sign the Vancouver Games are quickly approaching,
U.S. athletes representing six sports were formally processed
Monday afternoon at a suburban hotel. Aside from the mandatory
medical checkups, the best part of the check-in process is all the
cool free gear that's available.
"Oh my gosh!" shrieked Evora, when asked about her new red
running shoes.
From sweaters to T-shirts to boots with red laces to the opening
ceremony uniforms, athletes had plenty of options.
