DETROIT --
DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers have offered salary
arbitration to free agent right-handed pitchers Brandon Lyon and
Fernando Rodney.
Detroit did not offer arbitration to its other four free agents:
left-handed pitcher Jarrod Washburn, infielder/outfielder Aubrey
Huff, second baseman Placido Polanco and shortstop Adam Everett.
Rodney, the Tigers' closer in 2009, recorded 37 saves in 38
opportunities with a 4.40 earned-run average. Lyon went 6-5 with a
2.86 ERA and three saves.
The 34-year-old Polanco won his second Gold Glove Award in three

RBIs.
Lyon and Rodney have until Dec. 7 to inform the Tigers if they
will accept or decline the team's offer of salary arbitration.
