EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — A four-game losing streak has not only hurt the New York Giants' chances of repeating in the NFC East, it has put their playoff hopes in serious doubt.

Coach Tom Coughlin on Monday refused to blame anyone for the last-minute loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday that dropped the Giants to 5-4. Instead, the coach shouldered the blame, saying no one feels worse than he does.

Heading into their bye week, the Giants are now a half-game behind Atlanta (5-3) in the race for the NFC's second wild-card playoff spot. The teams are scheduled to meet at Giants Stadium on Nov. 22.

The problem for the Giants is their schedule down the stretch.
