HULL, England (AP) — Hull has fined U.S. striker Jozy Altidore for tweeting an apology after he was left off the squad against Portsmouth because he arrived late for the game.
The Premier League club announced the discipline on Monday. Altidore would have been on the bench for Saturday's game and was replaced by Will Atkinson in the 0-0 draw.
Hull manager Phil Brown was upset that Altidore tweeted his apology to the fans, saying such matters should be kept in house.
Altidore is on loan from Spanish club Villarreal.
