BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — Three-time champion Paula Radcliffe has pulled out of the World Half Marathon Championships because of tonsillitis.
Winner of the New York half marathon in August, the 35-year-old British long distance star then withdrew from running the marathon at the World Championships in Berlin, saying she needed more time to recover from foot surgery in March.
She targeted next weekend's race in Birmingham for a comeback but pulled out of that on Monday.
Radcliffe said: "Having developed tonsillitis over the weekend, I'm now on a course of antibiotics."
