DETROIT (AP) --
DETROIT (AP) - Orlando Cabrera hit a go-ahead single in the 10th
inning and the Minnesota Twins pulled within one game of AL
Central-leading Detroit, beating the Tigers 3-2 Tuesday in the
opener of a day-night doubleheader.
Tigers ace Justin Verlander was set to pitch against Brian
Duensing in the nightcap. Both teams have six games left - the
Tigers led by seven games only two weeks ago.
It was tied at 1 when Denard Span led off the Twins 10th with a
single. He advanced on a pair of wild pitches by Brandon Lyon (6-5)
and scored on Cabrera's single. Delmon Young added a sacrifice fly
for a 3-1 lead.
Curtis Granderson hit a leadoff homer against Joe Nathan in the
Tigers 10th. Nathan closed for his 45th save.
