ORCHARD LAKE, Mich. (AP) - Ryan Brehm bolstered his bid for a
wire-to-wire victory in the Michigan Open, shooting a 7-under 64
Wednesday and finishing the third round at 18-under 195.
Brehm, of Mount Pleasant, stretched his lead to five strokes
over amateur Matthew Thompson of Battle Creek, whose 4-under 67
kept him in second place.
Tom Werkmeister, an amateur from Kentwood, and two-time champion
JR Roth both shot 67 to remain in third and fourth place at 201 and
204, respectively.
Six-time champion Scott Hebert and Brian Cairns are tied for 5th
at 209 heading into Thursday's scheduled final round at Orchard
Lake Country Club.
