NEWBERRY, S.C. (AP) — Former NFL standout and South Carolina All-American Brad Edwards has been named athletic director at Newberry College.
The school announced the hiring Monday. Edwards replaces Andy Carter, who left last month to take over at Armstrong Atlantic State in Savannah, Ga.
Edwards played nine seasons in the NFL. His best years came with Washington from 1990 to 1993 when he made 13 of his 18 career interceptions. Edwards was a starter when the Redskins won the 1992 Super Bowl.
Edwards returned to his alma mater as an athletic administrator from 1999 to 2006.
