AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Joe Dumars admits the Pistons had a
painful season, but he's already looking ahead to better days.
Detroit's president of basketball operations held a news
conference today to talk about how the team collapsed after he
traded Chauncey Billups. He traded the popular Billups to Denver in
November because he only expected the Pistons to win about 50 games
and a playoff series or two.
Dumars also made the move to create playing time for second-year
pro Rodney Stuckey and salary cap space to reshape the franchise
this summer.
With about $20 million to spend and four draft picks, Dumars
hopes to make a splash in free agency or on the trading market.
