TRAVERSE CITY. MI --

Traverse City, Michigan, April 20, 2009 – The Father Fred Foundation announced today the receipt of 9 boxes of food and over $300 in cash from the Traverse City North Stars hockey team.  Earlier this month the North Stars sponsored a “can do” food drive for the Foundation during their play-off series.  Fans chose between buying a ticket that included a $2.00 contribution to the Foundation’s food pantry or dropping off non-perishable canned goods for a discounted ticket price.

“We hoped for a longer play off run this year but are still very happy with the way we could support such a great charity as the Father Fred Foundation,” said Steve Fournier, owner/president of the team.  “The spirit and impact of the Foundation are shining examples of what makes living in this area so great.”

The Father Fred Foundation is a non-denominational charity providing food, clothing, household goods, financial assistance and hope to thousands of families and individuals in crisis living in the five county Grand Traverse region.

For more information on how to make a gift to the Father Fred Foundation call 947-2055 or visit them on the web at FatherFred.org.
