JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Running back Maurice Jones-Drew has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones-Drew, a second-round draft pick out of UCLA in 2006, was expected to sign the new deal later Wednesday.

Jones-Drew has 6,003 all-purpose yards and 40 touchdowns in three seasons. The 5-foot-7, 208-pound dynamo led the team with 824 yards rushing last year and ranked second with 62 receptions for 565 yards. He scored 14 touchdowns.

He is expected to do even more in 2009 since the Jaguars released Fred Taylor, the franchise's career rushing leader, in February.

The Jaguars have made it clear they believe Jones-Drew is capable of being an every-down back and were willing to make him one of the highest paid at that position.
