DETROIT (AP) --

DETROIT (AP) - The Red Wings begin their drive for a third
Stanley Cup in seven seasons against a team making its first-ever
postseason appearance.
But Detroit insists it can't afford to look past the Columbus
Blue Jackets. Game-one of the best-of-seven first-round series is
Thursday night at Joe Louis Arena.
Many of their current players were around when the Red Wings
lost in the first round three years ago against eighth-seeded
Edmonton. They didn't advance in 2003 or 2001, either.
The Blue Jackets won a franchise-high 41 games -- at least six
more than they've had in a season since joining the NHL in 2000.
Three of those wins were against Detroit.
