Petoskey vs. Fruitport in boys soccer

Just two wins away from playing for a state title the Northmen took on Fruitport Thursday night.

On Wednesday third ranked Petoskey took down second ranked Forest Hills Eastern 1-0 in a Division 2 boys soccer regional final.

With top ranked Unity Christian getting knocked out early playoffs. The Northmen are the topped ranked team left in the postseason. Just two wins away from playing for a state title the Northmen took on Fruitport Thursday night. Scott Batchelor's team plenty of chances but no scoring from either team in the first half. Petoskey keeper Grant Reed not as busy as he was on Tuesday, but making the stops when he had to. With 10 minutes to go Brad Stempke with corner kick, the keeper punches it out but it's right to Jason Muller. Muller barely gets it across the goal line but he does for the only goal of the game. Petoskey wins it 1-0, they'll play Holland Christian in the state semi-finals in Grand Rapids on Wednesday October 29.
