DETROIT (AP) -- The Detroit Red Wings have been cleared to open training camp.

The NHL lockout ended Saturday night, allowing practices - and soon the games - to begin.

Detroit's first of 48 games will be Jan. 19 at St. Louis. The Red Wings will host Dallas on Jan. 22 in their home opener, a day after playing at Columbus.

The Red Wings are welcoming the public to watch their first practice for free at noon Sunday at Compuware Arena in Plymouth. They will have a Red and White Game on Tuesday night featuring their NHL players against their American Hockey League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, in the same facility.

The Red Wings cannot practice at Joe Louis Arena because Ford Motor Co. is using it during the Detroit auto show.
