CHIPPEWA CO. -- One woman was killed in a car crash on M-129 in Chippewa County Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, a car was going north on M-129 when it lost control on the icy road and was hit by a car going the opposite direction.

Sheriff's officials say the impact was so extreme that a third car was hit with debris.

Four people were taken to War Memorial Hospital with injuries. 46-year-old Sheryl Mastaw from Kincheloe died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation.

The Sheriff's Office says that within a very short period of time on Wednesday, Central Dispatch sent officers in Chippewa County to three additional roll-over crashes. Officials say icy roads, wind and speed too fast for the conditions were all a factor in the crashes.
