EMMET CO. -- One person is dead in a plane crash in Pellston.

Sheriff Pete Wallin says 26-year-old Jeffrey M. Salles, of Terrytown, Louisiana, was on his way to Lansing when he crashed.

According to the Emmet County Sheriff's Department, deputies were advised of a missing aircraft around 10:45 last night.

Salles, the sole occupant of the plane, was stopping to refuel in Pellston.

The plane was found in a wooded area southwest of the airport near the intersection of Camp and Duralik Roads. Salles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The plane was a 1994 Cessna Model 208 B which was leased to Martinaire Aviation out of Addision, Texas.
