The quick actions of a neighbor helped save the life of a man trapped in the icy waters of Black Lake.  Michael Beuerle was riding his atv on the ice when it gave way Monday afternoon, and he plunged through. The 67 year old found himself in water over his head. He was able to crawl out and cling to the ice, while calling out for help.

Luckily those cries were heard by Beuerle's 70 year old neighbor, Raymond Rathbun. Rathbun grabbed a rope and made a potentially lifesaving throw. Rathbun was able to pull Beuerle to safety.  State troopers and the Alverno Fire Department responded to the scene to find Beuerle crediting Rathbun with saving his life.

The Cheboygan County Dive Team was able to get the 4-wheeler out of the water with the help of a tow truck.
