Detroit schools honored for top attendance at bowl

(AP) -- Detroit Public Schools student athletes, singers and those with good attendance are being honored at the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl on Wednesday night at Ford Field.

The district says about 1,500 students and their family will be recognized at the game, which starts at 7:30 p.m. and pits Central Michigan against Western Kentucky.

The Detroit schools say bowl organizers provided 1,300 free seats for the district's use as an attendance incentive. The district says it selected the 20 schools with the highest overall attendance through Nov. 30.

The 220-student All City Choir singing the National Anthem, and there will be on-field recognition of the Division 1 championship Cass Technical High School football team.
