The tragedy in Connecticut is being felt all across the country and right here in Northern Michigan.

7&4 news spoke with local superintendents to hear their thoughts about what happened.

"I think every school continues to do everything that we do.  We try as hard as possible to keep every kid safe.  This is an unfortunate reminder that no matter what we do, we can never do enough and we do need to be vigilant," said Kingsley Schools Superintendent Keith Smith.

"When this type of behavior occurs, it's just shocking and it's horrifying and it really is the worst nightmare that a community can have... Is when their children are at risk," said Boyne City Schools Superintendent Peter Moss.
